Cross on top of gift boxes

Sending a gift should be simple. But every now and then, small mistakes can take away from what should be a really good moment.

One of the most common is forgetting the message altogether. It sounds obvious, but it happens more than you’d think. Without a message, the person receiving it is left guessing who it’s from or why it was sent. Even a short note fixes that instantly.

Leaving things too late is another big one. While same-day delivery can save the day, it does limit your options. When you’ve got more time, you naturally end up choosing something better.

Then there’s choosing a gift that doesn’t quite fit the person. A nice bottle of wine might seem like a safe option, but not everyone drinks. The best gifts come from thinking about the person first, not just the occasion.

Some people also play it a bit too safe and end up sending something forgettable. A more thoughtful combination — something with a bit of personality — tends to stand out a lot more.

And finally, the simple but painful one: getting the delivery details wrong. A small typo in an address or phone number can cause unnecessary delays or confusion.

None of these are major on their own, but together they can take the edge off what should be a great experience.

The good news is they’re all easy to avoid — and when you get it right, a well-timed, thoughtful gift really does go a long way.
